As you can see the trend is going from traditional computing to cloud computing.
A U.S. startup ApostleMod believes that personal desktops are the next step in the revolution started by the Cloud.

With Sonys acquisition of OnLive the great endeavor to bring their product called Onlive Desktop, which is essentially a desktop in Cloud, was buried along withthe amazing service OnLive Game streaming thatwas defeated by Nvidia Shield.

In the meantimeApostleMod revived the dream of Cloud Virtual desktops that this independent company has been developing for 2 years. The project meant to be the new OnLive Desktop and even more than that is calledMise En Abyme Cloud Computers.

The projects web site www.apostlemod.com hosts virtual Windows 8.1 PCs for the users to access these computers over the web GUI.

This new cloud service is different from the ones that already exist in terms that Mise En Abyme is an entire OS that uses virtialized hardware, in other words, a smart cloud, not just a storage (like dropbox), and unlike Shield tablet you may install you own games and apps to stream them over the Internet to your physical BYO device.

The project was released as a free public beta in March 2015 and you can try Mise En Abyme beta at this linkhttps://miseenabyme.apostlemod.com

The username and password are publically available only on the developers Facebook pagefor security purposes.
